Hi Brian, to be honest I can't remember the offset but an inch and a half (40mm) springs to mind. I do remember clearly that the offset as measured on the original cast head impressed me as being remarkably small.

I was reading through your information and found it vary interesting. I have been building my
own system which is similer to yours. I want to use the old stile wind mill with a 16 ft dia.
I live in central alberta canada. I manufactured my own tower which is 70 feet tall. I also man.
my own gear box, as I am a machinist and millwright by trade. I am not sure of the off set of
the vane. I was hoping you could help me out. I look forward to your reply. brian
